In early August 2006 a few days after the Israeli bombing of Qana, Lebanon a group of anti-war campaigners occupied the Derry plant of Raytheon, the arms manufacturer whose MK-84 guided bomb was used to kill the 63 civilians including 42 children at Qana the previous week.
As their protest was brought to a close nine of the anti-war campaigners were arrested. After over a year's delay, charges have finally been put to them in court alleging damage to the Raytheon plant.
Here supporters of the Raytheon 9 are seen outside Derry Court House during their appearance on 3rd September when the defendants pleaded "Not Guilty" to all of the charges. Moreover they have made clear their intention to use the case as a trial of Raytheon and their responsibility for the consequences of the use of their "products".
More information on the Raytheon 9 campaign is available on the Raytheon Nine website.
