The panorama opens in Bishop Street Without, (that is "the part of Bishop Street outside the walled city"). We are looking back into the walled city through Bishop's Gate.
Looking through the archway of Bishop’s Gate we are looking down Bishop Street towards The Diamond and in the distance behind it the clock tower of the Guildhall.
To the the right of our view through the gate we get a glimpse of Derry Court House and that is it that we glimpse again “over the shoulder" of Bishop’s Gate. As we start to rotate to the right we see above the tree behind the green fencing the spire of St Columb's Cathedral.
Behind the red-brick wall and green fencing is the Fountain Housing Estate, where many parishioners of the Cathedral live. On the edge of the Fountain half-way along Bishop Street is a tower - the last remnant of the old Derry Gaol. Amongst its more famouse prisoners were Wolfe Tone and Eamon DeValera.
Passing the Gaol Tower we are back on Bishop Street Without. On the right of the street is Alexander House - a sheltered housing scheme for older people, managed by North & West Voluntary Housing Group. Along the side of Alexander House is a street called "Nailors Row" - it runs down towards the St Columb’s Wells area of the Bogside.
Looking down Nailors Row we get a glimpse of Creggan housing estate in the distance, sprawling up the hillside.
The red brick building on the right of Nailors Row above the City Wall was, for its first hundred years the home of First Derry primary school. It is now the venue of the Verbal Arts Centre.
As we end our rotation the view is dominated by the British Army observation post, with its green corrugated fencing panels, video cameras and transmission towers. Recent political progress has seen it dismantled.
